In a significant move towards sustainable operations, Lakeway Link AB has partnered with ScanOcean AB to introduce B15-DMA, a marine fuel with 15% renewable content, for its new roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) service connecting Södertälje, Sweden, and Gdynia, Poland. This collaboration aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve environmental sustainability in the maritime industry.

The B15-DMA fuel meets ISO 8217 compatibility standards and has ISCC-EU certification. It is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) and Clean Shipping Index (CSI) scores, and comply with upcoming FuelEU Maritime regulations. Deliveries of B15-DMA will be made in Södertälje, Sweden, to the M/S Lakeway Express.

Fredrik Hermansson, CEO of Lakeway Link AB, emphasized the importance of this partnership in achieving the company's sustainability goals. "Our decision to partner with ScanOcean AB and begin using B15-DMA fuel is a significant step in our path towards reducing our environmental impact." This initiative not only aligns with our sustainability goals but also sets a new standard in the maritime industry for environmental responsibility," he said.

Jonatan Karlström, Managing Director of ScanOcean AB, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration. We are thrilled to partner with Lakeway Link AB as they launch their new ro-ro service. This collaboration is not just a business milestone but a significant stride forward in our mission to provide sustainable fuel solutions. With our new product offerings, we are dedicated to leading the charge towards a greener maritime industry," Karlström stated.

The partnership between Lakeway Link AB and ScanOcean AB sets a new standard for environmental responsibility in the maritime industry, which is a key step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change. This industry transition to more sustainable fuel solutions could have far-reaching implications for the environment and the economy.

The introduction of B15-DMA fuel is a demonstration of both companies' commitment to environmental sustainability, going beyond compliance with EU ETS obligations. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve environmental sustainability within the maritime industry.

Background information reveals that ScanOcean AB has been a pioneer in providing lower-emission marine fuels. In August 2020, the company introduced a new lower-emission DMA Gasoil in collaboration with Neste Oyj, a Finnish oil refining and marketing company. This history of innovation highlights ScanOcean's dedication to sustainable fuel solutions.

This partnership between Lakeway Link AB and ScanOcean AB marks a significant step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving environmental sustainability in the maritime industry. The use of B15-DMA fuel sets a new standard for environmental responsibility, paving the way for a greener future.
