Three Zimbabwean Policemen Sentenced for Armed Robbery of Toyota Prado

Three police officers from Beitbridge Rural Police Station in Zimbabwe have been sentenced to prison for armed robbery. Admore Nyamaropa, Andrew Mangwenzi, and Prince Mugove Kuchekenya were convicted for stealing a Toyota Prado vehicle from a man driving to Harare on April 17, 2023.

The trio, using their service firearms, intercepted Timothy Musariranwa at a fuel station in Beitbridge. Musariranwa, a Senior Compliance Inspector with the National Employment Council's Tourism Department, was forced to surrender his vehicle at gunpoint. The convicted officers then drove the stolen vehicle to Harare, where it was later recovered by detectives from the CID Vehicle Theft Squad.

Harare regional magistrate Esthere Chivasa sentenced each officer to 10 years in prison. However, four years of Kuchekenya's sentence were suspended on account of his ill-health, leaving him with an effective six-year term. For Nyamaropa and Mangwenzi, two years of their sentences were suspended on the condition of good behavior, resulting in eight-year terms for each.
