The Environment Carnival in Bandipora district of northern Kashmir highlights the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices, which are essential for the well-being of our planet and future generations. If we fail to address environmental challenges, it can lead to devastating consequences, including climate change, loss of biodiversity, and ecological disasters.

Conservator of Forests Eco Tourism J&K, Irfan Ali Shah, praised the efforts of DC Bandipora for banning polythene use in Gurez. 'We need to harness the natural beauty and cultural richness of Bandipora while preserving its ecological integrity,' he remarked. Shah also highlighted the value addition of medicinal plants available in Gurez.

World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5, is a significant global event dedicated to raising awareness and promoting action for environmental protection. This year's theme, 'Our Land, Our Future: We are GenerationRestoration,' emphasizes the collective effort needed to restore land and ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and combat climate change.

Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 during the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, World Environment Day has been celebrated since 1974. It aims to educate people about the impact of their actions on the environment and encourages individuals and communities to take action to protect the environment.

The carnival in Bandipora serves as a call to action for everyone to become part of Generation Restoration, recognizing the vital role individuals play in restoring our planet.
