Prince William Busts a Move to Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ During London Eras Tour Concert

Prince William, the Prince of Wales, proved he's a "cool dad" as he attended Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert at Wembley Stadium in London on Friday, June 21, with his children Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The royal family members enjoyed the show from a private box, and William even showed off his dance moves to Swift's hit song "Shake It Off."

According to social media footage, William, 42, wildly shimmed his shoulders during the song, while Charlotte, 9, grooved along to the beat, twirling in her pink, sparkly dress. The royal family's fun night out was made even more special as it fell on William's 42nd birthday.

Before the concert, William and his kids went backstage to meet Swift, 34, and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, 34. Swift even snapped a selfie of the moment, captioning it "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start 🇬🇧🇺🇸🤝"

In the selfie, Kelce wrapped his arm around William, while George and Charlotte stood in front of their father. William shares his children with wife Princess Kate Middleton, who did not appear to attend the concert. Kate, 42, is currently battling an undisclosed form of cancer.

Why it Matters : This rare public display of fun and spontaneity from the royal family is a breath of fresh air, showing that even the most dignified figures can let loose and enjoy themselves. The meeting between Swift and the royal family also highlights the power of music to bring people together, regardless of their backgrounds or social status.

The encounter between Swift and William is not their first, however. They initially met at a November 2013 charity event, where they sang a duet of "Livin' on a Prayer" with Jon Bon Jovi at Kensington Palace. Bon Jovi recalled the moment, saying, "It was all [Taylor]. She literally grabbed him by the arm and ran up on stage, and they both knew the words and sang along."

William, however, did not know "what came over [himself]" to agree to the duet. He recalled the moment during a 2021 appearance on Apple Fitness+'s "Time to Walk" podcast, saying, "To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I'm cringing at what happened next, and I don't understand why I gave in."
